I love the simplicity of these earrings. I don't normally like "bold" earrings, and what I like about these is that I get the length I like without wearing bulky, heavy earrings. And they go as easily with jeans & a spring top, as they do with a business suit.
To begin, I take sheets of sterling silver and hammer the heck out of them. (I'm sure my neighbors think I'm a crazy person when I'm out in my studio!) After I have the effect I'm looking for, then I cut each individual circle. For these earrings, the circles graduate from 3/8" to 5/8", then back again. Once the circles have been cut, I use a dapping block to gently form each circle slightly outward at the center. Oxidization comes next - the piece shown has been oxidized then hand sanded to bring out the wonderful hammered texture. Lastly, I tumble them overnight to create a highly polished, nearly mirror finish. (These were a bugger to photograph because either my camera or I kept getting reflected on the sterling disks!)
The series of five circles swings freely from highly polished, handforged earwires, which are brightly polished and bare; a nice contrast to the oxidized finish.
You can choose Bare (highly polished, white-shiny sterling), Oxidized (as shown here - some darker areas, some lighter areas), or Gunmetal (heavily oxidized, but not black).
Your jewelry will arrive in a lovely little box with an anti-tarnish liner, perfect for storing your new treasure or ready for any gift-giving occasion.
