Shield Earrings in Hammered Sterling with Gemstone Cascade Finished with Wonky Wrap

Reminiscent of a shield, this sterling silver triangle has been formed and hammered to add texture and character. I begin by hammering heavily at the widest side of the shield, then taper off with lighter hammering toward the opposite point. This creates the look of raindrops, in my opinion. And who doesn't love a light sprinkle of rain in early Spring?!

Both the shield and the wire have been oxidized and polished, which brings out the texture & shine! To dress up the rustic feel of the shield, I add a cascade of ruby, amber, topaz, peridot, moonstone, quartz and other gemstones. A lovely little amethyst briolette dangles at the bottom and is finished off with my signature "wonky wrap." The cascade measures about 1.25 inches. The sterling shield is approximately 5/8" across. Including the handforged sterling earwire, these little beauties measure approximately 2.75 inches overall. They are long, but they are dainty!
